FYI, this story is more than a year old

Industry veteran Chris Barton has settled into his new role as regional channel manager at Clearswift's Sydney headquarters.

Barton is perhaps best known for his work as the ANZ regional manager at SonicWall. During his tenure there, and working with the then-networking team at Renaissance, the brand achieved higher market-share in New Zealand than it saw in any other global market.

Most of the team that worked with Barton at the time of SonicWall's success have now moved to local wireless and security distributor Connector Systems.

In the eighteen months after leaving SonicWall, Barton headed New Zealand sales for security vendor Websense. He joined  Clearswift as regional channel manager late 2010.

"I will be focussed on increasing the company's breadth and depth of partner relationships, together with its distributor, Distribution Central, within the successfully established Catalyst Partner Program," said Barton.

"I am also responsible for strategic channel planning and strategy and work closely with Clearswift's channel to create opportunities across the Asia Pacific region.".

Barton has been in the position for a few months but has been keen to raise his profile in the New Zealand marketplace.
