FYI, this story is more than a year old

Samsung Electronics has released its latest curved monitor, SE790C, with ultra-wide quad high definition (ultra-WQHD), along with improved contrast ratio and resolution.

The 34-inch curved monitor is targeted toward business and gaming customers.

The 3000R (curvature radius of 3,000mm) design of the SE790C is designed to closely match the natural curve of a viewer's eyes to provide a distortion-free viewing experience with less eye strain for the viewer.

The curved monitor's eye comfort has been validated by TÜV Rheinland, a leading international certification organisation.

The certification process involves an evaluation of the monitor's colour presentation, colour uniformity, viewing angle, and curved space and flicker-free operation.

“The new Samsung Curved Monitor has been designed to fit with the natural curvature of the human eye effectively causing less eye strain," says Verdon Kelliher,  Samsung New Zealand enterprise director.

“With an immersive viewing experience and the advanced multi-tasking capability this monitor is a must have for all businesses.

“For those into gaming, Samsung's curved monitor is going to take the experience into an entirely new dimension. The curved monitor brings to reality the feeling of total immersion into the game,” he says.

The Samsung SE790C features a 21:9 aspect ratio and ultra-WQHD resolution of 3,440 by 1,440 pixels.

It has a static contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and 300 cd/m2 typical brightness, for better colour and sharper images.

The extra-wide viewing angle of 178 degrees horizontally and vertically optimises the viewing experience from any position and minimises picture distortion, says Samsung.

The SE790C comes equipped with Picture-by-Picture (PbP) and Picture-in-Picture (PiP) 2.0 functions for enhanced work efficiency.

PbP allows users to connect two devices, such as a desktop, laptop, gaming device or Set-Top Box (STB), and view both simultaneously on the monitor.

PiP 2.0 enables multi-tasking without the need to downscale content.

The monitor also is equipped with four USB 3.0 super-charging ports.

Entertainment features include a unique game mode, 7-watt dual stereo sound and response time of under five milliseconds.

The monitor is constructed from metallic materials and is designed with clean look. It has a curved T-shaped, height-adjustable stand (HAS) and hidden VESA bracket support.
