FYI, this story is more than a year old

In an ever-changing industry such as IT, it can be a constant struggle to stay on top of the latest innovations and where product development and trends are heading.

New Zealand’s Technology Showcase, an Ingram Micro event, has been helping resellers stay ahead of the technology curve for nearly two decades.

The event has been in operation since digital cameras for the consumer market were in their infancy, Windows 95 was a brand-new, revolutionary operating system and Red Hat Linux was the new kid on the technology block.

Now, 3D-printing is an affordable reality, Internet of Things is becoming more and more prevalent and cloud storage is as common as floppy disks were 20 years ago.

The technology industry is rapidly developing, and each year, Showcase attendees get a sneak peek into what the future of the industry may look like.

Ingram Micro Marketing Services Manager Gabby Steyn says through connecting with experts from more than 50 of the world’s top technology brands, attendees can discover what’s at the forefront of technology.

“Attendees can check out the latest products and technology innovations, learn about upcoming software trends for business, pick up helpful tips and tricks and find solutions to troublesome technology issues," Steyn adds.

Last year, more than 2,000 tech-focused resellers came through Showcase doors in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Now in its 19th year, afternoons at Showcase are opening up to end-users. Organisers have invited important technology purchasing decision-makers throughout various industries, including members of the Chambers of Commerce and other reputable business databases, from 1pm.

Steyn says this presents a huge opportunity for vendors and resellers to connect with highly engaged, technology-focused end-users on the Showcase floor or at seminars which run throughout the day.

“Attendees can choose what’s relevant to them from a wide selection of topics ranging from security to big data, BYOD, cloud and mobility or the Internet of Things (IoT)," Steyn adds.

“Morning sessions will be dedicated to resellers and afternoon sessions have a blended message for both resellers and their end-user customers, with plenty of time for Q&A to pick the brains of experts in their fields.”

Steyn is encouraging resellers to bring their end-user customers along to the show, to explore and develop new ideas and opportunities.

“Our preference is that resellers accompany their customers and use the event to build relationships and offer a unique value to their customers.

“Every year we receive feedback on opportunities that were created, problems that were solved and value that was delivered from discussions on the Showcase floor. This is where real business development happens.”

New Zealand’s largest technology showcase is the brainchild of the world’s largest supplier of computer and technology products. Ingram Micro represents approximately 1,400 suppliers globally, and serves customers in 170 countries.
