FYI, this story is more than a year old

Alcatel-Lucent has recently revealed new software defining networking (SDN) technologies for the OmniSwitch Ethernet Lan portfolio of its Enterprise division.

This is designed to help companies meet the increasing demands of their employees and customers to use applications they want, when they want.

Enterprise IT departments are under pressure to adopt new technologies to meet the demands of their customers, with many looking for ways to provide flexibility and capacity without an increase in operational overhead.

To cope with these challenges Alcatel-Lucent has expanded its application Fluent Network vision so enterprises' can build affordable SDN-based solutions.

These additional SDN capabilities, featuring automation and provisioning, support practical use cases which solve issues in the enterprise, thus making SDN the foundation for a new and improved user experience.

“These capabilities ensure that OmniSwitch solutions are open and will work seamlessly with the company’s partner ecosystem and industry SDN leaders’ solutions,” said Stephane Robineau, general manager and vice president, Enterprise Networks business, Alcatel-Lucent.

Alcatel Lucent Enterprise products are distributed in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands by Connector Systems.
