Ex-Microsoft GM building 'something secret' at Amazon
Wed, 3rd Apr 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The former general manager of Microsoft's Windows Phone developer platform has jumped ship to Amazon, apparently aboard a 'secret' mission.

The aptly named Charlie Kindel, updated his LinkedIn profile to notify the working world of his new position at the online retailer, officially titled director of "something secret."

"I'm building a new team going after a totally new area for Amazon," Kindel teased on his LinkedIn page.

"I'm hiring cloud and mobile developers and testers, program managers, and product managers."

But given the announcement of made on April 1, April Fools' Day for all you boring folk, maybe there is no truth in the statement.

With a career spanning over 20 years at Microsoft, Kindel's joke wouldn't have exactly gone down well, implying the post must be correct.

Yet when writing on his personal blog, Kindel's bizarre post suggests either a practical joke of the poorest humour, or simply the gospel truth.

"Building on the massive success of the Amazon Kindle Fire, Charlie Kindel today is announcing that he has taken on a full-time role at the software and retail giant to build the Amazon Kindle Charlie," he wrote.

"The Amazon Kindle Charlie will be Amazon's entry into the hotly contested home server market."

Kindel, LinkedIn and Amazon did not comment on the matter, leaving TechDay readers as the best judge of truth - so, what will it be, fact or fiction? Tell us your thoughts below
