Keep your IT infrastructure in a separate location
Fri, 1st May 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

How much is your business data worth? Could you operate without it?

What would your business do if you came in on Monday and your server had blown up due to a flood or overheating? Would you still be able to operate on Tuesday?

If the answer is no, you need to take steps to ensure you can.

A secure offsite location

That means finding a secure offsite location that will hold all of your essential IT equipment such as servers and phone systems which you can easily connect to as you run your business.

You need a data center so you can take advantage of things like flood detection and anti-fire prevention systems, system monitoring, temperature control and uninterrupted power supply.

The security that a data center provides also means it's a lot harder for anyone to access your equipment and cause any damage, accidentally or on purpose!

Insurance against disruption to business

If disaster strikes, you've got the equipment you rely on for your email, phones, invoicing and customer records housed in a facility that's designed to be as secure and robust as possible so you can keep operating.   Cost effective equipment housing

Your business can lease rack space - that's space on a purpose built rack for servers which is locked so only you can access it 24/7. (Of course, we can help if you can't get to it and need something done.) It's a cost effective way of housing your equipment, with plenty of space to grow.

There won't be any difference to how your system operates. You won't even notice its not next door.

Don't take the risk

Data storage back-ups can be hit and miss and often not considered until something goes wrong – the more important that data is to your business, the more important is it to store it safely and professionally in a data center.

After all, you wouldn't consider keeping your hard earned money under a mattress, or not registering your company name or not having insurance.  So why take risks with your data, intellectual property or connectivity?
