Trevor Delany has joined the team at Southern Cross Hospitals as its new chief digital officer.

The new role focuses on improving health outcomes using digital strategies.

Delany moves into the position following his previous role as head of information technology - services for BP New Zealand. Since 2013, Delany has managed the delivery of all information technology and digital services across this complex business.

“Everything we do is linked to better outcomes for the people who come through the doors of our hospitals. To have a digital leader aligned with this focus is a huge asset,” says Southern Cross Hospitals chief executive officer Terry Moore.

“Trevor has more than 25 years of diverse strategic and technology experience, and we're thrilled to see that he has already immersed himself in the business, looking at ways to create exceptional patient experiences,” he says.

In his new role, Delany is focused on advancing patient-centric services and facilities with modern digital and IT capabilities.

In 2017, Delany led the delivery of the most advanced digital mobile customer journey in the global retail fuel industry with the launch of BPMe, here in New Zealand. Immersion in customer experience, data driven problem-solving and creative design thinking were key factors in the creation of this customer engagement platform, exceeding business case metrics and contributing huge customer benefit and business value growth to BP New Zealand.

Prior to his six years with BP, Delany was the manager of Global Information Systems at Icebreaker Limited. He has also led transformational teams and technology initiatives across multiple industries and countries, including senior manager for Technology and Enterprise Risk Services with Deloitte in Australia, South Korea, and New Zealand.

“I'm excited to take on this key position at Southern Cross Hospitals, an organisation inherently focused on making lives better,” says Delany.

“It's a role that aligns perfectly with my passion for people and making positive impact through digital ways and means,” he adds.

Delany started his role with Southern Cross Hospitals in June.
