FYI, this story is more than a year old

Following the recent acquisition of Hosting Direct's (HD) hosting division, Web Drive has acquired Christchurch based web hosting company Flexihost.

Three weeks after gaining 9300 domains from HD in their Open Host division, the Albany-based provider will add a further 2,200 websites to its ranks.

"Business wise, Flexihost is a very tidy operation with a great service track record and product offering,” says Robin Dickie, Web Drive general manager.

"However like many small web hosts they lack technical resources and infrastructure, which is where Web Drive will be able to add substantial value to customers."

Web Drive says it remains committed to maintaining the current suite of services and pricing for all Flexihost customers, who can expect business as usual post settlement.

"This acquisition gives Web Drive a further 2,200 web sites and a strategic path to merge our two new acquisitions, making Flexihost one of New Zealand's largest web hosting brands with more than 7,000 web sites hosted,” Dickie says.

"We also intend on continuing to offer Cpanel (a leading web hosting control panel system used by tens of millions sites worldwide) which is extremely popular within the industry.”

Hosting more .NZ web sites than any other, Web Drive is the country's largest web host with 110,000 domains managed for 30,000 customers.
