Promapp's NZ-born BPM software a hit with US university

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Promapp's business process management software has been chosen by a United States university to support the institution's document processes.

Promapp, which has headquarters in Auckland, landed a deal with the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) to deploy business process information in a way that is easy to follow and to improve.

Promapp will also help to drive and support a process ownership and accountability structure and improving adherence on campus.

The contract will allow UCB to fully deploy Promapp's software over the course of April, with initial results expected by the end of the year.

“UCB chose Promapp to improve and standardise the way in which we document processes and protocols across campus, and to have them located in a central place to help with accessibility and transparency,” comments UCB director of process Transformation and Innovation for Campus Shared Services.

Noble reviewed a number of BPM tools before deciding to go with Promapp. He says he was impressed with Promapp's ability to handle process variations.

“We looked at several other tools and took advantage of the 30-day trials they typically offer, but none came close to Promapp's ease-of-use, or flexibility in terms of working with us,” he explains.

He also says process variation is rampant across the Berkeley campus. Promapp's process variant management tool was able to standardise processes across the organisation.

Promapp's software was also able to incorporate process variations to meet specific requirements, customise activities, and manage service delivery for users.

“Ultimately, the use of Promapp will help in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, helping to preserve institutional knowledge and support succession planning,” Noble says.

“Promapp will allow us to constantly ask critical questions and track data to determine whether one way of doing things works better than another way,” he concludes.

UCB is also looking to partner with peers at Michigan State University, which also began using Promapp's BPM tool late last year.

Promapp was recently recognised as one of five Hot Vendors in Business Process Management 2017 in a report prepared by Aragon Research.

The report says, “Promapp's secret sauce is its ability to be easy enough for beginners and business teams to be successful pretty quickly. The collaborative nature is a key feature, along with the ability to manage change and process variants.

Promapp provides services to a range of public and private sector customers, including Coca-Cola Amatil, Air New Zealand, WesTrac, Lumo Energy, Toyota, Ricoh, McDonald's, Audi Australia, Department of Justice, Victoria, Adelaide City Council, Waikato District Council and Southland Regional Council.
