FYI, this story is more than a year old

Digital experience company Acquia says it has significantly expanded its footprint in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.

The company have cited an unprecedented demand for their cloud and open source digital technology, high-profile enterprise deals and team expansions as drivers of growth.

With regional headquarters in Australia, Acquia's team for APJ has grown to more than 80 people since launching in Sydney five years ago.

With expertise in digital architecture design, delivery, account management and customer support the company has expanded its clients this year into New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Thailand.

New customers include the New Zealand Post, Astellas Pharma Incorporated, Citigroup, Telkomsel, City University of Hong Kong, and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services. In Australia, the company has landed notable enterprise deals including Brisbane Airport Corporation and EnergyAustralia, while expanding into the sporting vertical with The Commonwealth Games. The company also cites the success of the govCMS program, built in collaboration with the Australian Department of Finance.

Acquia says the shared services model has so far delivered more than 155 websites across 57 State and Federal Government Agencies agencies, with 20 more sites in development.

Aris Theocharides, director at Deloitte Digital says Acquia's investment in open source CMS platform Drupal has also been a key driver of their success.

“The uptake of Drupal to drive digital innovation is, without doubt, one of the fastest adoption rates I've seen in a technology practice,” he says.

“Acquia has invested a great deal over the past few years to show us how open source, and specifically Drupal 8, are now commercial imperatives, both for clients and for our own practice growth.

The company has also attributed its growth to building strong relationships with its partners, who include Ogilvy Australia, Technocrat, Morpht, Doghouse Agency, and Salsa Digital among many others.   Graham Sowden, Acquia APJ general manager says, “The brilliant work of our partner network is a pivotal factor in helping our customers succeed, and has helped fuel our company's growth.

“Acquia's growth across Asia Pacific has been driven by our regional team from top to bottom - a team that is both dedicated and talented. It's a great time to be at Acquia and involved in the Drupal community, with open source and digital innovation reaching such maturity in the region.
