Avnet signs up Tintri; white-labelled cloud on way

Specialist storage vendor Tintri has signed a distribution deal with Avnet Technology Solutions which includes New Zealand.

The deal will see Avnet market, distribute and provide sales and product support for Tintri’s smart application-aware storage products to New Zealand customers.

The partnership will also enable Avnet to deliver system integration and cloud services based on Tintri products, to customers and partners in the region.

Darren Adams, Avnet Technology Solutions vice president and general manager, says the distributor will focus the Tintri solution toward its Avnet cloud service offerings.

“In particular we will offer white-labelled cloud and managed services through our comprehensive network of system integrators, value-added resellers and independent software vendors across ANZ.

“These are exciting times in the market and combining with Tintri will allow our partners to be at the forefront of key storage technologies.”

Peter Molloy, Tintri Asia Pacific vice president, says ANZ has lead the market in virtualising data centres and is now part of the vanguard driving IT-as-a-Service.

“In such a highly virtualised and automated IT landscape, storage that attempts to hide rather than eradicate the shortcomings of traditional storage will invariably fall short of the expectations of end-users and service providers.

“The old storage management constructs of LUNs and volumes drive higher unit cost and complexity. It’s an architecture 20 years overdue for a shakeup, and we are delighted that Avnet has decided to partner with Tintri."

Earlier this year Tintri inked an ANZ deal with Observatory Crest – acquired last week by multinational Arrow Electronics - to distribute its software in the region.
