Infor a Leader in Magic Quadrant for warehouse management

24 Mar 2020

Infor has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant of Gartner’s 2019 Magic Quadrant for Warehouse Management Systems.

Gartner defines a warehouse management system (WMS) as “a software application that helps manage and intelligently execute the operations of a warehouse or distribution centre (DC).”

The Magic Quadrant report outlines that “WMS applications offer capabilities such as receiving, put-away, stock locating, inventory management, cycle counting, task interleaving, wave planning, order allocation, order picking, replenishment, packing, shipping, labour management and automated materials handling equipment (MHE) interfaces.”

The report also notes, “While a very mature market, WMS offerings continue to differ in areas like usability, adaptability, intelligence, scalability up and down market, and life cycle costs. Furthermore, customers increasingly favour supply chain suites that can support end-to-end logistics process orchestration.”

CloudSuite WMS is the latest offering in Infor’s range of CloudSuite products.

Combining warehouse management with the cloud, WMS is consistent across deployment methods (multi-tenant, single-tenant or on-premises), and has native support for 14 languages.

It includes visual warehousing, labour management, and an open API framework.

"We believe that Infor's position as a Leader in this Gartner Magic Quadrant reaffirms our belief that a single, unified, global warehousing solution built to take advantage of the business value of the cloud, provides a strong foundation for sustainable growth in the age of customer-driven supply chains,” says Infor EVP and manufacturing and supply chain general manager Rod Johnson.

The report notes Infor’s strengths as its global market presence; cloud vision, strategy and solution management processes; no-code or full-code customisability options; and a broad range of technology integrations.

In cautions, the report notes that Infor’s offering currently lacks the “breadth and depth” to support the largest warehouses, the need for distinct warehouse size classification for its solutions; and concerns that chasing the larger warehouse market may slow down strategies that benefit the mid-size market which make up the majority of its current users.

There are a total of 14 vendors included in this Magic Quadrant with:

  • five Niche Players – Vinculum, Microlistics, Synergy Logistics, Made4net and Generix Group;
  • two Visionaries – Tecsys and Softeon;
  • one Challenger – Reply;
  • and six Leaders – Infor, SAP, Highjump, Oracle, JDA, and Manhattan Associates which is placed highest for both ‘Ability to Execute’ and ‘Completeness of Vision’.

At the recently held "2019 Annual Summit for Logistics Resources" in Guangzhou, Infor China and its customer, P.G. Logistics, won the "2019 National Leading Brand Enterprise in the Logistics Industry" award.
