New Zealand's Portland Software Services has gained a ranking on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2015 after recording 220% growth over the past three years.

The company, headquartered in Auckland, provides cloud based health insurance and risk management systems for the insurance and healthcare industries.

It has been ranked at number 194 on the Asia Pacific-wide list, which ranks companies based on revenue growth over the past three years.

Greg Woolley, Portland Software Services chief executive, says international uptake has driven the company's growth.

The company, which number 42 in the New Zealand Deloitte Fast 50 this year – right behind Xero – has customers in China, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Singapore.

Ichiro Nakayama, DTTL leader, Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific program, says making the list is commendable in today's highly competitive tehnology industry.

“Attracting enough customers to attain such fast growth over three years makes a strong statement about the quality of a company's product and its leadership,” Nakayama says.

“Portland Software Services has shown the right calibre for growth,” Nakayama adds.

The Kiwi company received a Callaghan Innovation R-D grant in 2015 and has invested several million dollars in developing cloud-based services in the last 18 months.

The company is now gearing up for the next phase of its overseas expansion, and recently attracted five new US-based investors to support its entry into new geographies.
