PowerbyProxi has hired a new Vice President of Engineering, in the form of industry veteran Michael Eckert.
Eckert joins from Tracking-Point and brings 18 years’ experience running complex engineering development efforts and will be based in PowerbyProxi’s Auckland, New Zealand, office.
Prior to that, Eckert led Motorola’s Silicon Technology development where he was instrumental in the development and commercialization of Motorola's mobile WiMAX and later its LTE chipset solutions.
“Michael brings broad technical and management experience leading large teams in international multi-disciplined R&D efforts,” says Greg Cross, Executive Chairman and CEO, PowerbyProxi.
“We have increased our engineering team by 64% over the past year and are thrilled to have a strong leader like Michael to help guide that team through the next phase of our growth."
Securing partnerships with global leaders including Samsung, TI and TE Connectivity, to name but a few, Cross says PowerbyProxi continues to demonstrate its position as an early innovator and market leader in developing resonant power solutions for CE devices and reliable robust solutions for industrial applications.
PowerbyProxi’s heritage in building large scale, mission critical wireless power applications for the industrial sector uniquely positions the company to help drive the adoption of wireless power in the consumer electronics industry.
“Working at PowerbyProxi offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of wireless power with a company backed by a strong IP portfolio leading the widespread adoption of this technology,” adds Michael Eckert, vice president of engineering, PowerbyProxi.
“We are pushing the boundaries for higher power and distance for CE and industrial applications and have access to some of the smartest wireless power experts in the world from The University of Auckland - I’m really excited about the capabilities of the team."
