QNAP Systems recently announced that it has become a partner in the Veritas Technology Ecosystem.

With in-depth cooperation, QNAP and Veritas supposedly provide a comprehensive storage solution tailored to the data and system backup needs of small and medium businesses.

An all-in-one backup NAS appliance solution is also made possible for users to deploy and configure their backup infrastructure faster, supposedly highly-scalable backup storage for users running the Veritas Backup Exec solution on QNAP NAS.

Veritas Backup Exec 16 features a supposedly intuitive interface, allowing users to streamline their backup tasks across virtual, physical and connected cloud environments.

Through deep integration with Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) and VMware vStorage APIs for Data Protection (VADP), the Veritas application effectively minimises the impact on the CPU, memory, and I/O performance of the virtual host.

Coupled with global deduplication and changed-blocks tracking technology, the recovery time and disk space required for backup files are reduced.

Veritas Backup Exec also supports the instant recovery of VMware and Hyper-V virtual machines, providing an immediately usable copy of the server and data for disaster recovery, testing, and application deployment.

In the past, professional IT staff were required to deploy enterprise-level IT infrastructure and plan to correlate backup solutions.

With the integration of Veritas Backup Exec and QNAP NAS, these staff can supposedly easily use QNAP NAS as a high-performance backup storage.

By installing Veritas Backup Exec on Microsoft Windows Server running in QNAP's Virtualization Station, users can instantly turn the QNAP NAS into a backup appliance and immediately perform virtual machine or physical machine backup tasks on the QNAP NAS, providing users with a more cost-effective and scalable backup storage solution.
