FYI, this story is more than a year old

Rackspace has formed a partnership with Google Cloud, as it has been chosen as the first managed services partner for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for the ANZ region.

The new managed services offering for Google Cloud Platform customers, Rackspace Managed Services for Google Cloud Platform, expands on Rackspace and Google Cloud's global partnership announced in March 2017.

Rackspace's managed support services will offer GCP customers in Australia and New Zealand added cloud architecture support, onboarding, data migration expertise, as well as ongoing operational support for customers, to help ensure optimal cloud application performance.

Through this new partnership, GCP customers in the region will soon have access to Rackspace's Customer Reliability Engineering (CRE) programme and full managed security services for GCP.

This broad services portfolio, combined with Google Cloud's embedded security capabilities, will deliver application reliability, resiliency, uptime, as well as cloud security for enterprises.

“The strategic partnership with Google Cloud provides the Australian and New Zealand market with an incredible cloud technology platform, giving them more choice than ever before,” says Rackspace ANZ general manager Darryn McCoskery.

“We're focused on helping organisations de-risk their digital and cloud transformation journeys by being trusted advisors. We are taking the cloud transformation burden off their hands, using our deep cloud expertise - and now GCP's unique capabilities - to help businesses focus on driving business growth and efficiencies.

One of Australia's leading vocational online education providers Open Colleges, which has operations across Australia and a presence in various international markets, will be the first Australian organisation to benefit from Rackspace's Fanatical Experience for Google Cloud Platform.

Rackspace's Managed Services for GCP will support Open Colleges' quick expansion across new geographies and markets, as well as empower the online education specialist to deliver new types of courses, including the availability of new short course formats.

“The launch of GCP in ANZ coincides perfectly with the expansion of our Google offering globally to deliver our new managed security and Custom Reliability Engineering (CRE) services for GCP,” says Rackspace Managed Services for Google Cloud Platform global vice president and general manager Patrick Lee.

“This is another major step towards jointly driving stronger innovation and expanding our reach to Google Cloud customers around the world.
