Revera and VMware bring greater cloud offerings to NZ

FYI, this story is more than a year old

New Zealand businesses now have a gateway to the VMware vCloud Air public cloud, thanks to a partnership between Revera and VMware, the virtualisation and cloud infrastructure services provider.

The partnership connects Revera's New Zealand-based Homeland Cloud IaaS platform to VMware's Australian public cloud data centers, and allows Revera clients to utilise public and private infrastructure and DR services.

Keith Archibald, Revera head of innovation, says clients were moving to split applications and data between providers, and it was incumbent on local cloud services providers to offer multiple cloud formats and tools to manage them.

“Revera has been quietly working to address our clients' growing preference for mixing and matching cloud services.

“Partnering global suppliers and delivering slick integration provides our clients with a simple dashboard to buy and manage multi-sourced cloud services,” says Archibald.

Duncan Bennet, ‎ VMware ANZ vice president and managing director, says, “The expansion of VMware vCloud Air to Revera in New Zealand marks another major milestone in the global build-out of our hybrid cloud service.

“As a vCloud Air Network Premier Service Provider Partner, Revera delivers fast and easy access to public cloud and best in class in-country cloud services.

Archibald says connecting to VMware vCloud Air through Revera's Homeland Cloud would appeal to local businesses with trans-Tasman infrastructure requirements.

“Flexibility is key, and customers can decide on which side of the Tasman they want to activate core infrastructure and DR services,” he says.

Bi-directional workflow between Revera's Homeland IaaS platform and vCloud Air was controlled by VMware vCloud Director – a management layer that delivered a consistent experience across both public and private platforms.

Revera has operated VMware virtualisation technology for a decade under the VMware Service Provider Programme and more recently vCloud Air Network.
