FYI, this story is more than a year old

Samsung has vowed to fight Apple’s attempts to ban eight smartphones from U.S. sale as the fall-out from their high-stakes patent case reaches new levels.

After a Californian jury hit Samsung with over US$1bn in damages, U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh requested a list of products the electronics firm had ‘willfully’ copied from Apple designs.

The world’s most valuable company wants eight Samsung smartphone products pulled from U.S. shelves, the Galaxy S 4G, Galaxy S2 AT&T, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S2 T-Mobile, Galaxy S2 Epic 4G, Galaxy S Showcase, Droid Charge and Galaxy Prevail.

But since the submission Samsung has hit back, issuing a short statement saying: “"We will take all necessary measures to ensure the availability of our products in the U.S. market."

The nine member jury ruled Samsung had infringed on six of seven Apple patents but the company has indicated it plans to lodge an appeal.

Judge Koh will hold an injunction hearing to determine if any Samsung products should be banned from U.S. store s on September 20.
