FYI, this story is more than a year old

Sony has sold over one million PlayStation 4 consoles, just 24 hours after the eagerly-anticipated product hit the shelves across the US and Canada.

Claiming that sales "remain very strong" across the North America region, the console giant is expecting more of the same when the console goes global on November 29.

The first Sony video game console in seven years, the company expects to shift five million units by the end of March - going head to head with Microsoft's new Xbox One, set for release on November 22.

“PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal,” says Andrew House, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment.
