Telecom fixes NZ-wide fault
Tue, 11th Dec 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Telecom has fixed the broadband outage affecting 200,000 customers, returning service after connection problems earlier this morning.

After experiencing browsing trouble, broadband was cut to around two-thirds of the company's customers after an overnight outage.

"Nationwide customers may be experiencing problems with their internet connection this morning," said Telecom in an official statement.

"The technical problem was resolved just after 8am, but customers may still be having trouble browsing or using the internet due to the volume of customer modems trying to reconnect.

"Most modems will reconnect automatically although a small proportion may need to be reset manually (by turning off and on).

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this outage, which occurred when a problem arose during a scheduled software upgrade on one of our main internet servers."
