Update: Vodafone network back in business
Thu, 16th Apr 2015
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Services have been restored to Vodafone's customers after the network when down for a period today.

Business and consumer cutsomers using Vodafone's 2G, 3G and 4G network may have experienced difficulty making and receiving calls, TXTs and using data from around 9.30am this morning, but the telco could not provide certainty on how many of its cutsomers were affected.

"Due to the intermittent nature of today's mobile service issue, and the sporadic areas impacted around the country, it's not possible to put a number on the customers impacted," Brad Pogson, communications spokesperson for Vodafone, explained.

Pogson says the root cause of this morning's mobile issue was a core network router problem in Christchurch, which led to mobile voice and TXT services problems for customers.

"Vodafone became aware of the issue early this morning and worked as quickly as possible to find a fix," Pogson says. "By 11:00am Vodafone engineers had stabilised many of the impacted services. Services continued to improve. At 2:00pm services were fully restored."
