FYI, this story is more than a year old

Zebra Technologies' ZC100 and ZC300 series card printers received a Red Dot distinction in the 2019 Product Design category. This marks the fifth consecutive year Zebra has received this international honour.

Zebra says that the ZC100 and ZC300 series design process was one of immense collaboration, pooling insights from designers, engineers, sales teams and customers.

“Zebra is delighted to receive this prestigious recognition of our ZC100 and ZC300 series card printers by Red Dot,” says Zebra Technologies innovation and design senior director Curt Croley.

“Our design leverages Zebra's best-in-class card printing technologies combined with a thoughtful user-centred design approach. Zebra's commitment to creative, intuitive and effective design for enterprise customers helps us deliver unprecedented visibility and productivity at the edge of our customers' operations.

The ZC100 and ZC300 series card printers securely print a wide range of identification, payment and membership cards for retail, finance and hospitality sectors.

The design addresses key end-user needs with user interface simplicity, self-aligning media and intuitiveness of card loading and removal.

These printers offer industrial design with a slim profile and low clearance meaning that they can be installed in space-constrained environments such as under a counter or shelf.

“I would like to congratulate the laureates sincerely on their wonderful success,” says Red Dot founder and CEO Professor Dr. Peter Zec.

“The fact that their products were able to satisfy the strict criteria of the jury bears testimony to their award-winning design quality. The laureates are thus setting key trends in the design industry and are showing where future directions may lead.

The Red Dot Award was founded in 1955 and is considered one of the most esteemed awards for design excellence. It is the biggest design competition in the world, and this year, the jury received more than 5,500 products from 55 countries.

Last month, Zebra announced the results of its latest vision study on the future of field operations.

The study revealed that mobile technology investment is a top priority for 36% of organisations and a growing priority for an additional 58% to keep up with rapidly evolving and increasing customer demand.

The findings indicate investments will be made in disruptive technologies and enterprise mobile devices to enhance front-line worker productivity and customer satisfaction in field operations including fleet management, field services, proof of delivery and direct store delivery workflows.
