PowerbyProxi set to showcase new wave of wireless charging
Wed, 4th Jun 2014
FYI, this story is more than a year old

PowerbyProxi is demonstrating the next evolution of resonant wireless charging at Computex 2014 in Taiwan this week.

A first for the industry is a 7.5W, highly resonant charging solution for thin-form devices, such as smartphones and phablets.

The solution, which offers multi-device charging and full spatial freedom, is also expandable to power tablets up to 15W.

Seen as one of the biggest technology shows in the Greater China Region, CEO Greg Cross believes Computex is a great opportunity for the company to engage with the key OEM’s, ODM’s and investors in this very important market.

“This is one of a handful of key shows for us each year and its mid year timing is a great opportunity to showcase technology as key customers look to make design decisions on what innovations they should be considering for future products," he says.

“We continue to drive advances in wireless charging technology.

“Our contributions to the future specification of the Qi 1.2 standard, will enable better performance and more convenient solutions for consumers.”

For the first time, PowerbyProxi will also demo a wireless charging pad for mobile devices that enables vertical height charging of up to 30mm.

This functioning z height distance will enable charging capabilities to be integrated into public locations like restaurants and hotels, as well as furniture and countertops.

Charging can occur through materials including wood, plastic and composites along with the ability to charge multiple devices with full spatial freedom.

PowerbyProxi’s new bowl transmitter with 3D charging technology has been designed to charge smaller, personal devices including wearables and devices using AA batteries. Devices can be placed in any position or orientation, even on top of each other.

The bowl, which measures 100mm in diameter, offers a sleek design for office or bedside and complements PowerbyProxi’s larger “family” charging box, which can accommodate multiple larger devices such as gaming controllers, cameras or toys.
