Thu, 21st Mar 2024

Akamai and Fujitsu have announced an extension to their strategic affiliation, a move that will magnify the reach of Akamai Cloud Computing services in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). The extended partnership aims to give organisations greater access to modern, affordable cloud infrastructure services with a strong, targeted approach.

This collaboration will expand Akamai's services into Fujitsu’s Melbourne data centre, thereby strengthening Akamai’s foothold in the region. Simultaneously, Fujitsu will integrate Akamai's industry-leading cloud computing and security solutions into its range of hybrid multi-cloud offerings for ANZ customers.

The strengthened alliance falls under the purview of Akamai Connected Cloud, which is expected to facilitate cost-effective optimisation of cloud strategies for organisations. In addition, Akamai’s innovative Guardicore—a segmentation solution enhancing cyber resilience against emerging threats—will also form part of the enhanced suite of services.

These developments mark a stride in redefining cloud computing services for businesses across sectors, including retail, education, local government, manufacturing, mining, and healthcare in ANZ. Leveraging Akamai’s cloud computing services, organisations can optimise cloud costs with confidence, thanks to a flat and consistent pricing plan with no binding lock-ins.

James Richmond, Regional Director, ANZ at Akamai, stated, “We are strengthening and broadening the scope of our engagement with Fujitsu to assist ANZ organisations effectively use digital channels for better customer interactions. Our expanded engagement with Akamai will allow us to accelerate this hybrid multi-cloud offering across more organisations in Australia and New Zealand, further empowering our customers to accelerate their digital transformation and optimise their investment in the cloud.”

The commencement of this strategic relationship was originally back in May 2022, with the agenda to aid organisations in Australia to avert ransomware threats and cybersecurity attacks, the present enhancement announcing Akamai’s entry into Fujitsu's Melbourne data centre, marks an important milestone in the collaboration. The alliance aims at consolidating and building on Akamai’s market-leading micro-segmentation solution, in combination with Fujitsu’s leadership as a managed service provider, serving as a crucial step in buffering and enhancing the capabilities of hybrid IT, data centres, and cybersecurity services.
