2degrees claims Vodafone’s customers

Fri, 18th Dec 2009
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Since 2degrees launched in August 42,500 mobile users have ported their number to the fledging mobile carrier – 85% from Vodafone.

In a statement today, 2degrees CEO Eric Hertz says that prior to its launch the average number of mobile ports per month was 3501.

“Since 2degrees entered the market in August, mobile porting has increased by 410%, hitting a staggering monthly average of 14,377, and 70% of these numbers have been transferred over to 2degrees. Of our 42,500 mobile ports, 85% have moved to 2degrees from Vodafone,” he says.

2degrees won’t say how much the Average Revenue Per User is, citing commercial confidentiality. It has previously claimed to have over 100,000 subscribers.

When approached for comment about the increase in the number of mobile ports, Vodafone declined to comment.

At Telecom’s financial briefing last month CEO Paul Reynolds acknowledged 2degrees’ successful launch, although he says that 2degrees customers “are operating on two SIMs”.
