30% of businesses still outside cloud

A survey of businesses and government organisationshas found nearly one in three are still steering clear of cloud computing.

The survey of 48 IT professionals, conducted by Unisysat industry events in Auckland and Wellington, found 30% of respondents didn’thost any business applications in a cloud environment.

Of those that did, the most-favoured cloud services wereweb hosting services (32%), customer relationship management (CRM) systems(21%), and email (19%).

40% of respondents said they were considering moving theiremail services to a cloud environment in the next two years, 27% their webhosting, and 16% their CRM.

Asked to list what they perceived as the greatestrisks to their IT services, 44% said natural disasters, 40% said human error,and 27% said power outages.

Only 13% of respondents perceived cyber attacks to bea great risk.
