Acronis appoints new ANZ leaders to drive regional growth & security

Yesterday

Acronis has appointed Terry Christie as General Manager for Australia and New Zealand to lead regional operations and drive increased platform adoption.

Christie's appointment reflects Acronis' focus on expanding its presence in the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) region and enhancing collaboration with local partners. The company has emphasised the importance of local expertise and partnership-building to support business growth and the adoption of its integrated cyber protection platform.

With over 25 years of experience in IT and cybersecurity, Christie brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. Throughout his career, he has held senior positions at organisations such as Nitro, Aruba (HPE), Commvault, IBM, Lenovo, Samsung Electronics, and Ingram Micro. As General Manager, Christie is responsible for shaping the regional strategy, overseeing operations across ANZ, and increasing engagement among service providers seeking modern cybersecurity solutions.

Christie highlighted his motivation for joining the company and spoke about the opportunities he sees in the role. He stated:

"What excites me most about joining Acronis is the opportunity to be part of a company that's at the forefront of cybersecurity and data protection. The market is evolving rapidly, and Acronis' unified platform — combining backup, disaster recovery, endpoint protection, and cybersecurity — is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of modern businesses. I'm passionate about helping our partners and customers understand the power of this integrated approach and the value it brings to securing digital environments."

Christie's main responsibilities will include guiding the ANZ team in accelerating regional growth, strengthening relationships with partners and customers, and delivering integrated security solutions. These solutions are designed for managed service providers (MSPs) and businesses that require advanced cyber protection, remote monitoring, and management (RMM) capabilities.

Expanding the team

Alongside Christie's appointment, Pete Bouris has been named Strategic Partner Account Manager for the ANZ region. Bouris brings significant experience in partner development and cybersecurity sales, having most recently served as Head of SMB Sales ANZ at Veeam. He has also worked at Arcserve and StorageCraft. In his new role, Bouris will be responsible for driving partner recruitment and enablement throughout Australia, supporting Acronis' channel-first approach.

Bouris' background working closely with MSPs and managed security service providers (MSSPs) is seen as complementary to Acronis' ambition to strengthen its presence and relationships within the local market.

Company perspective

Pasha Ershow, Senior Vice President for APJ & Middle East, commented on the appointments and the company's continued growth in ANZ.

"Acronis is expanding in Australia and New Zealand, thanks to growing potential and strong partnerships in these countries. These appointments reflect our commitment to invest into a strong local team that delivers innovative, AI-powered cyber protection for our partners. With Terry and Pete onboard, we'll continue to accelerate our business growth, which is already growing more than 40% year on year, delivering AI-powered security, data protection, and RMM platform, helping more than 600 partners to address evolving cybersecurity challenges with confidence."

Acronis has integrated cybersecurity, data protection, and endpoint management into a single solution, with features such as built-in RMM, advanced threat detection, and AI-based automation. This approach is designed to help service providers and businesses manage emerging cyber threats and streamline their security operations.

The platform is positioned to support a wide network of partners and end users across Australia and New Zealand, who are facing an evolving cybersecurity landscape. The company reports that its business in the region has achieved more than 40% annual growth, engaging with over 600 partners to address new security challenges.

With the addition of Christie and Bouris to its ANZ leadership team, Acronis intends to continue its investment in regional growth, technology capabilities, and support for its channel partners in delivering cybersecurity and data protection solutions.
