The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has announced its sponsorship of the Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS2024), which will be held in Canberra from 4 to 6 December. This marks the 35th year of the event, recognised as Australasia's premier conference on Information Systems. The theme for this year's conference is "Digital Futures for a Sustainable Society," focusing on how technology can be used to address environmental, social, and economic challenges inclusively and equitably.

Key topics at ACIS2024 will include leveraging digital tools to build economic resilience, fostering digital sovereignty, and enhancing social equity while addressing ethical concerns such as data privacy and security. The conference aims to provide a platform for discussing these critical issues that have widespread implications for various sectors.

Dr. Rod Dilnutt, a member of the ACS Management Committee, expressed his enthusiasm about the sponsorship. "We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the ACIS2024. This annual event is a cornerstone for the Information Systems community and plays a pivotal role in fostering ICT innovation and research collaboration," he said. Dilnutt emphasised that supporting the academic ecosystem of faculty, students, and industry partners aligns with ACS' objective of ensuring Australia has a highly skilled workforce to meet the challenges posed by emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, and quantum computing.

Helen McHugh, the President of ACS, also highlighted the significance of the event. "I'm proud to support this key conference and it's an honour to be associated with such an important event. I'm pleased that ACS is continuing its support of key events in the Australasian ICT ecosystem," she stated. McHugh underscored the conference's role in gathering academics, industry leaders, and policymakers to shape the future of ICT in Australia and the region.

ACIS2024 will feature a variety of streams, including Emerging Technologies in Information Systems, Digital Innovation, Strategy and Governance, Information Security, and Data Analytics. Sessions will delve into pressing issues such as Environmental, Social, and Governance factors (ESG), digital transformation, the future of work, and the ethical implications of new technologies. Tracks will also address digital collaboration, misinformation, and innovations aimed at the common good.

The conference will include presentations of full and short research papers, poster sessions, panel discussions, and workshops. Notable areas of focus will be digital ecosystems, healthcare technologies, digital government, and decolonising information systems research. For the first time, ACIS2024 will feature an Industry track with case studies showcasing the latest technology applications and solutions.

This year's event sees over 370 academic papers being considered for publication. Those interested in presenting in the industry track can get in touch with the organisers for more details.

ACIS continues to be an essential event for facilitating dialogue and collaboration within the Information Systems community, providing valuable insights and fostering developments that aim to benefit society as a whole.
