Akaroa to get $1.8m fibre link
Tue, 20th Oct 2009
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Chorus has begun work on building a 35 km fibre optic cable from Little River to Akaroa in Canterbury at a cost of $1.8 million. Chorus general manager for product management Chris Dyhrberg says the fibre project will significantly boost the broadband connectivity in the area.“Akaroa is currently connected into the national telecommunications network via a high capacity radio link. The greater transmission capacity provided by the new fibre cable will support high speed data services, such as ADSL2+ broadband connectivity for Akaroa.”The fibre link is expected to be complete by April next year.
