Annual survey aims to fix IT in NZ

FYI, this story is more than a year old

The New Zealand IT industry is being invited to participate in the first annual Getting IT Right survey, with a goal of setting a benchmark from which to measure future improvements in IT service delivery in New Zealand.

The 15-minute survey is a partnership between the Getting IT Right initiative and industry analysts IDC, and is open until November 30.

Scott Groombridge, founder of Getting IT Right, says the survey is the next step in the initiative, which has already built up a strong community via the Getting IT Right website, LinkedIn, and other channels.

"IT project failure is an all too common problem,” Groombridge says.

"The amount of money we waste every year on project failures could be better spent.”

Ullrich Loeffler, country manager of IDC NZ, says improving the value gained from IT investments is in the interest of every New Zealand business.

"Organisations in New Zealand have to work around the parameters of limited availability of capital funding, ICT expertise, and staff,” Loeffler says.

"Maximising the returns from the investments made will directly impact the competitiveness of New Zealand in the global marketplace.”

The promoters are asking for participation from business executives, ICT decision makers and line of business managers. Participants will go into the draw to win an LG Optimus 2X P990 smartphone from 2degrees.

The results of the survey will be shared with participants, and a detailed report will be produced in early 2012.
