Anthropic has launched Claude for Financial Advisors, adding connectors and workflow tools for wealth management firms.

The offering targets financial advisers who use multiple custodians, customer relationship management systems, portfolio platforms and planning tools in their daily work. It is designed to handle research, meeting preparation and documentation tasks that often sit outside client meetings.

The launch adds connectors for adviser-focused software and data providers including Addepar, BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Vanguard, Wealth.com, Wealthbox and Zocks. Advisers can choose which services to connect through a guided setup process.

These integrations sit alongside existing links with broader workplace and financial data tools such as Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global and Morningstar. Anthropic has also bundled adviser-specific connectors and workflow functions into a single plugin for Claude.

The move targets a long-standing efficiency problem in advisory businesses. Anthropic cited research from Kitces showing that a typical advisory practice spends only a sixth of its time in client meetings, with the rest taken up by preparation, planning and follow-up work.

It also pointed to demand for advice beyond the industry itself. According to the 2026 Retirement Confidence Survey from the Employee Benefit Research Institute, more than four in 10 American workers say they do not know where to go for good financial or retirement planning advice.

Workflow focus

Anthropic has built the system around specific tasks rather than a general chat interface alone. The workflow tools cover adviser onboarding, pre-meeting preparation, post-meeting notes and follow-up, portfolio rebalance review, prospect intake, estate and tax review, alternative investment summaries, and compliance and AI policy checks.

For example, the pre-meeting tool pulls together holdings, recent account activity and outstanding issues from prior meetings into a single brief. The post-meeting tool can turn a transcript into a client summary, a recap email and CRM tasks.

Another function reviews estate plans against account titling and beneficiary information, while a portfolio review tool flags drift and concentrated positions against target allocations. Anthropic said these outputs remain drafts for advisers to review, rather than final actions completed without oversight.

Regulated work

Regulated activities such as investment recommendations, client communications and compliance determinations remain subject to human review and approval. Administrative tasks such as CRM updates or draft messages are staged for approval before they are carried out.

One compliance function checks client-facing language against the US Securities and Exchange Commission Marketing Rule and can support firms in documenting review workflows and AI governance procedures. Workflow activity can also be recorded to help firms maintain records and oversight.

The emphasis on supervision reflects the pressures on advisers adopting generative AI in a regulated environment. Wealth managers have explored AI tools for note-taking, client summaries and internal analysis, but many firms have moved cautiously because of recordkeeping, supervision and model risk concerns.

Partner backing

Several industry participants used the launch to position Claude as a layer across the existing software stack used by advisers. Some partners are integrating through the main plugin, while others are offering their own plugins tied to Claude.

"Anthropic builds AI aligned with human values. Mercer Advisors builds family offices aligned with client interests. That shared obsession is core to both firms and anchors our partnership. Claude helps our teams work seamlessly across clients' financial lives, while judgment and accountability stay with the advisor. That is how AI should work in any profession built on trust," said Daniel Gourvitch, President, Mercer Advisors.

BlackRock framed the integration as part of a broader push to place its portfolio tools inside adviser workflows. "Advisors are navigating increasingly complex client needs while facing an accelerating pace of change across markets and technology. Our work with Anthropic is an important step in our broader effort to bring BlackRock's portfolio intelligence and asset allocation expertise to more advisors to help them scale their business and build better portfolios. By making our institutional-quality portfolio analytics more accessible, we are helping more advisors leverage our portfolio intelligence so they can spend more time focused on client relationships," said Jaime Magyera, Head of US Wealth & Retirement Businesses, BlackRock.

Charles Schwab also linked the product to the established systems used by registered investment advisers. "The future of advisor technology will be defined by how well firms can connect trusted data, powerful intelligence, and everyday workflows. Our collaboration with Anthropic reflects Schwab's commitment to helping registered investment advisors (RIAs) leverage innovation within the tools they already use, making it easier to serve clients, scale their practices, and grow with confidence," said Jon Beatty, Head of Schwab Advisor Services, Charles Schwab.

Ritholtz Wealth Management focused on labour allocation rather than job cuts. "Nobody at Ritholtz is going to be replaced by a chatbot. The math on this business is hours, not headcount: an advisor has a finite number of them, and most were going to prep and paperwork instead of the people who actually pay us. Claude for Financial Advisors can move that busy work forward across the systems we already use, with the advisor staying in the loop on anything that reaches the client. That gives us meaningful time back across the firm, so clients get faster responses and more focused attention," said Michael Batnick, Managing Partner, Ritholtz Wealth Management.

The breadth of integrations suggests Anthropic is trying to make Claude part of the operational layer of advisory firms rather than a standalone assistant. The adviser plugin is available through the company's Enterprise tier, which includes audit logs intended to support recordkeeping.
