Auckland becomes global support hub for enterprise cloud vendor Workday

Enterprise cloud applications provider Workday has bypassed other locations around Asia Pacific to open a global support centre in Auckland.
The Auckland facility, which will house up to 140 employees – 80 of which are expected to be on the ground by the end of the year – is the vendor’s third global support centre alongside facilities in California and Dublin.
Workday was founded in 2005 by former PeopleSoft executives David Duffield and Aneel Bhusri and provides enterprise cloud applications for financial management, human capital management, payroll, student systems and analytics.
The company competes against established - and big name - enterprise software players such as Oracle and SAP.
Workday recorded revenue of US$1.6 billion for fiscal 2017, up 35% year on year, with subscription revenue up 39% to hit $1.3 billion. It recorded an operating loss of $106.2 million for the period.
Rob Wells, Workday Australia and New Zealand managing director, says the new facility is a significant investment for the company and will provide around the clock support for customers globally.

Chris Byrne, Workday senior vice president of global operations and support, says Auckland was chosen over other Asia Pacific cities ‘due to its willing and talented workforce and the country’s Privacy Act, which is in line with Workday’s privacy commitments to customers’.
