FYI, this story is more than a year old

New Zealand app developers are being encouraged to enter the Super Apps Developer Challenge, APAC Division.

Developers are being asked to showcase applications that take advantage of the BlackBerry Application Platform. The challenge aims to recognise smartphone applications on a regional basis across four global regions – Asia Pacific, North America, Latin America and Europe/Middle East/Africa.

Judges will evaluate applications submitted in seven categories: Productivity, Fun - Entertainment, Knowledge, Sharing, Navigate - Explore, Multi-media and In the Know.

Adele Beachley, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, Research In Motion, said, “RIM hopes to encourage innovation in application development and we believe that the BlackBerry Super Apps Developer Challenge is a great way for RIM to successfully contribute to the New Zealand developer community.  The BlackBerry Super Apps Developer Challenge offers developers in the Asia Pacific an attractive prize package so we hope New Zealand developers are encouraged to enter and demonstrate their talent.”

Developers of apps selected at each finalist level will receive prizes to support their development on the BlackBerry platform. There are over $1.5 million dollars in prizes to be won, including application promotion services, BlackBerry smartphones, BlackBerry App World marketing support, an Elite membership in the BlackBerry Alliance Program and more.

We'd love to hear from you if you make it to the finals.
