BlackBerry re-signs only NZ hosting partner

Sun, 19th Jun 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

One of the key differentiators for BlackBerry phones is the enterprise security and control afforded by having a BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This is different to both iOS and Windows phones, which can access emails from almost any type of email server.

Individuals wanting email on their BlackBerry will typically pay for the service to be operated by their network service provider (for example Vodafone) while larger organisations typically operate a BlackBerry server in-house or have one hosted for them.

According to the BlackBerry website only three partners in Australasia are certified as BlackBerry Alliance Partners for Hosting. Local system integrator OneNet is the only partner certified in New Zealand. In the last few days, this certification has been renewed.

"OneNet is a market leader in cloud computing. In addition to providing BlackBerry Enterprise Server, we run your software applications for you and you can access them from anywhere you can connect to the Internet, at any time you like.” says Steve Victor, Business Partner Manager, OneNet.
