Boomi launches solution to tackle API sprawl challenges

Boomi has announced a new API Management solution aimed at supporting organisations dealing with extensive API networks, known as API sprawl.

The company has introduced 'Boomi API Management', which is a synthesis of Boomi's existing API Management services and assets acquired from Cloud Software Group and APIIDA. This new solution addresses the challenges posed by API sprawl, which are especially significant for companies with generative AI-enhanced applications. According to research by IDC, these companies have approximately five times more APIs than those not significantly investing in generative AI.

Shari Lava, Senior Research Director of AI and Automation at IDC, noted, "APIs have become the backbone of AI-driven innovation, enabling seamless interaction between AI models, agents, and enterprise systems. Effective API management is no longer optional — it is critical for organisations to ensure security, scalability, and governance while reducing complexity and API sprawl. Without a robust APIM strategy, businesses risk losing control over their AI initiatives and missing out on their full transformative potential."

Unlike standalone solutions, Boomi API Management is integrated into the Boomi Enterprise Platform, which encompasses various functionalities including integration and automation, data management, and AI management. This is intended to deliver optimal performance and business value in a single platform.

Boomi API Management also features support for both Boomi and third-party API gateways. Utilising Boomi AI Agents, the solution aims to close security vulnerabilities, manage API sprawl, and enhance the strategic value of technology investments.
