BT enhances global Cardway portfolio with Mako Networks

FYI, this story is more than a year old

BT has announced a significant enhancement to its Cardway portfolio of payment solutions following the signing of a global agreement with Mako Networks.

According to the company, the new agreement is set to give BTs Cardway customers enhanced resilience, visibility and control.

BT will now have the ability to offer multinational retail customers a new cloud-managed PCI-certified Secure Compliant Edge solution, which they say will make it easier for them to connect and manage thousands of sites globally in a secure, scalable and cost-effective way.

Cardway acts as a portfolio of solutions that helps businesses that accept credit cards in person to secure and manage their networks. They can also assist with helping reduce downtime of point-of-sale (POS) devices and further optimise costs. They are also designed to comply with PCI DSS regulations.

As part of the new agreement, existing and new BT customers will now be able to upgrade to the Cardway Secure Compliant Edge.

Built around the latest secure access services edge (SASE) approach, it uses proprietary Mako virtual private network (VPN) Cloud SD-WAN technology to connect and protect thousands of locations via BT-managed internet connectivity both wired and wireless.

Mako edge devices and the Mako Central Management System form a closed-loop management interface that is end-to-end PCI-certified and cloud-accessible anytime, anywhere. Fast failover for payment zones, including a 5G cellular option, ensures business continuity.

"Trust and reliability are fundamental to great customer experiences," says Marie Boycott, Head of Payments at BTs Global unit.

"With our new Cardway Secure Compliant Edge, developed with Mako, we're helping to remove retailers' worries about the security, performance and compliance of their payment processes. This allows them to focus on delivering excellent service overall and build strong customer relationships."

Simon Gamble, President of Mako Networks, says the new development will help give retailers better options when it comes to payment system security, and the company is proud to be helping promote growth and transformation.

"We are extremely proud to have been selected by BT to help expand its Cardway services with the launch of its new Mako-based secure, managed payment solution," he says.

"The world's largest distributed retail enterprises are choosing Mako technology to enable transformative networking infrastructure to be efficiently deployed throughout their organisations whilst allowing franchisees the control and visibility they demand. BT's experience and reach will ensure more retailers have access to the best managed networking technology in the market".
