Can we trust SW for decisions ?

Wed, 14th Oct 2009
FYI, this story is more than a year old

A new software system launched this week allows users to input data and then offers decision-making ‘support’ based on a psychological approach. Developed in New Zealand and called BlunderBuster, the software allows you to input information, such as the needs and desires of an individual, and it will come up with the best solutions. To ensure that all issues are considered, the software presents ten simple criteria to be applied to each issue in order to provide a sense of checks and balances. Also, there is software for businesses that is currently in testing mode, called the the U-Template, which is software designed specifically for businesses that has a three-layer data-inclusive template, discussion board and summary charts for each issue. The software is said to have a ‘humane outlook and personal touch’ and could be used to make decisions based on a person most intimate thoughts, including decisions about marriage and divorce. David Herman, the Founder of the BlunderBuster, said: “You might trust anything to software, is you had faith in its methodology.” He also said: “BlunderBuster is designed to get us to think longer and harder in the short run and, for the sake of the long run, to help us start mapping out our immediate and distant futures with plans that are sound, balanced and well-grounded in reality.” For more information, visit the website.
