Celonis unveils AI-powered features to boost process intelligence

Wed, 5th Jun 2024

Celonis has announced a series of enhancements to its platform and new AI-enabled features during its Celonis: Next event. The improvements, aimed at further integrating Process Intelligence with AI, seek to accelerate value creation for businesses through enhanced data insights and automation capabilities.

Alexander Rinke, co-CEO and co-founder of Celonis, stated, “We’re proud to be trusted by the world’s leading companies to help make AI not just a parlour trick, but a new way of doing business. For us, it’s all about bringing Process Intelligence to every part of the enterprise—BI tools, automation, and AI.”

The enhancements featured during the event include upgrades to the Process Intelligence Graph, Process Copilots, AI-powered apps, and the Celonis Studio among other features. These updates are tailored to help organisations better understand and optimise their business processes.

The Process Intelligence Graph, introduced at Celosphere 2023, serves as a core element of these upgrades. It creates a digital twin of a business and couples it with specific business contexts, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and improvement opportunities. The updated PI Graph includes capabilities such as Oracle EBS Transformations for seamless data integration, Fast Data Model Search, improved user interface for relationship modelling, and intuitive object selection.

Process Intelligence is crucial for organisations to leverage AI effectively, filling the typical gap in enterprises that possess raw data without the contextual linkage found in consumer AI. This contextual data is critical for enabling AI to generate meaningful insights and outputs.

Celonis has introduced Process Copilots, which allow anyone within an organisation to ask questions about their processes using an LLM-based GenAI chatbot. This feature is designed for users without data analytical expertise, making it accessible and easy to deploy. Alexander Skolik, Digitalisation Expert at Enervie, commented, “Process Copilots put Celonis Process Intelligence within easy reach of our people, empowering them to drive process excellence and make more informed business decisions while allowing our Celonis experts to focus on wider value creation.”

Celonis also showcased several AI-powered applications designed to streamline operations and improve efficiency. One such app is the Planning Parameter Optimisation App, which helps material planners by providing updated planning parameters based on evolving consumption and replenishment patterns derived from a machine learning model. Other apps include the Free-Text Requisition App, which converts free-text requisitions to purchase orders, and the Duplicate Invoice Checker, aimed at identifying and addressing duplicate invoices.

“Using Celonis' Planning Parameter Optimisation App, we can more accurately monitor and manage our supply chain, reducing costs and improving key metrics like excess inventory and on-time delivery,” said Thomas Stoll, Vice President Global Supply Chain at manroland Goss web systems.

Additionally, the company highlighted investments in other areas of the Celonis platform, such as a revamped Studio experience for low-code development, an integrated suite of Process Management products from a recent acquisition, and the introduction of the Emporix Orchestration Engine for real-time process automation. Improvements were also made to data ingestion and processing capabilities, including a Standard Data Ingestion API and a Premium Process Query Engine.

Celonis has recently expanded its operations in the Asia-Pacific region by appointing Pascal Coubard as vice-president of Australia and New Zealand.
