CES Deliver PowerPoint from your BlackBerry
Fri, 8th Jan 2010
FYI, this story is more than a year old

A device enabling users to deliver PowerPoint presentations from their smartphone was launched by Research In Motion (RIM) at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week.

The BlackBerry Presenter (pictured) plugs into a projector or monitor to enable users to display a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation wirelessly from their BlackBerry smartphone - replacing the need for a laptop. The small device measures less than four inches wide and weighs 140g.

"Blackberry Presenter equips mobile professionals with a simple, secure and convenient way to deliver presentations directly from their BlackBerry smartphone, giving them the freedom to leave their laptops behind" says Glenn Laxdal, RIM vice president for product management.

A local company representative says the devices requires BlackBerry Device Software v4.6. The devices available in New Zealand that are compatible with this software are Curve 8520, Curve 8900, Storm 9500, and the Bold 9000.

BlackBerry Presenter will retail for $US 199 and will be available via RIM's online store. There is no date for a release.
