According to findings from a recent IBM survey, the CIO has to juggle a number of roles each day to effectively lead an organisation, with one of the main roles being an innovation leader.
The global survey included more than 2,500 CIOs from 78 countries, including 129 CIOs from ANZ.
“This study is the first time that we’ve conducted a global study of this size and scale,” Pearce said. The study is the largest face-to-face survey of CIOs ever conducted.
Managing Consultant for IBM Global Business Services in New Zealand Ross Pearce recently spoke to IT Brief about the significance of the results and how CIOs can thrive in today’s workplace environment.
“The key findings from the study were that CIOs today have to play a variety of different roles,” he said. “Those roles can be clustered into three main areas.”
The first role revolves around innovating, both in IT and in the general business. The second role is focused on ROI and the third focuses on expanding business impact.
