Cloud Sherpas merge with GlobalOne, secure $US20m in funding

FYI, this story is more than a year old

US-based Cloud Service Provider (CSP) Cloud Sherpas is looking to take charge of the worldwide cloud market, including that in New Zealand and Australia, merging with consulting firm GlobalOne and securing US$20 million in funding from Columbia Capital.

The resulting company will still be called Cloud Sherpas, although GlobalOne CEO David Northington will take the helm, while Cloud Sherpas CEO Douglas Shepard will be president of the company's Google business unit.

The funding will be used to reach into new geographic regions, further develop its vertical market solutions, and expand its portfolio of cloud-based applications.

The company, which last year was named Google Enterprise Partner of the Year, already operates in ANZ out of locations in Wellington, Sydney and Brisbane.

John Orrock, founder of GlobalOne and senior vice president for Asia Pacific at Cloud Sherpas, says demand for cloud services in this region ‘continues to grow at breakneck speed'.
