Cloudera expands observability suite with new premium solutions

Thu, 11th Jul 2024

Cloudera has announced the release of two new observability offerings aimed at simplifying and automating the administration of its platform. These new premium solutions are designed to provide a single source of observability across both cloud-based and on-premises data centres, catering to highly secure enterprises.

Keir Garrett, Regional Vice President of Cloudera ANZ, highlighted the challenges Australian enterprises face. “Australian enterprises are struggling to manage increasing data volumes, escalating costs and tool sprawl in their digital and data transformation journey. Businesses especially are seeking observability solutions to optimise their visibility and insights across their most sensitive data estates in real time and at speed and scale. These high-value capabilities make administration of the platform easy and automated for our customers, helping them improve total cost of ownership, accelerate time to value and achieve their business outcomes faster,” Garrett said.

Cloudera’s expanded observability suite comes at a time when enterprises are under pressure to manage data resources more efficiently and leverage data effectively across their organisations. Cloudera Observability aims to help enterprises maximise cost-efficiency, enhance performance, and unlock intelligent insights.

There are two new solutions within Cloudera’s observability suite. Firstly, Cloudera Observability Premium On-Premises allows customers with highly secure networks to run observability within their own data centres. This solution facilitates optimal monitoring, troubleshooting, financial governance, data observability, and automated actions, even in air-gapped configurations. Secondly, Cloudera Observability Premium for Public Cloud Data Hub extends all the advanced premium capabilities to public cloud users, offering real-time monitoring, advanced financial governance, automated actions, and data observability.

The introduction of these features enables enterprises to leverage high-value capabilities such as real-time monitoring for Data Hub clusters, jobs, and queries, financial governance with new cost factors and capacity forecasting, workload views, alerts, and automated actions. Additionally, data observability with hot and cold table analysis is included. These features are intended to streamline self-service troubleshooting and enhance visibility into resource costs and usage.

Industry analyst Sanjeev Mohan commented on the importance of these capabilities. “Real-time correlations and contextual information are essential for identifying optimisation points and potential bottlenecks along with prescriptive recommendations. Implementing advanced observational capabilities is critical for enterprises as they provide real-time system insights that enable proactive issue resolution and enhance security, ultimately leading to operations and reduced risks. Cloudera’s expanded Observability offering enables enterprises to tackle this head on by building a new standard for hybrid data observability across on-premises and public clouds,” he said.

Dipto Chakravarty, Chief Product Officer at Cloudera, emphasised the significance of this release. “There is immense pressure on enterprises today to better manage data resources and efficiently leverage data across the organisation. Cloudera Observability helps enterprises maximise cost-efficiency, enhance performance and unlock intelligent insights. The new premium additions deepen these insights for enterprises and build on our commitment to help customers take back control of their data, analytics, and AI,” Chakravarty said.

The release represents a significant expansion for Cloudera Observability, focusing on the continuous discovery and collection of performance telemetry data across applications, services, and infrastructure components running in Cloudera environments.
