ControlUp for Apps boosts SaaS management & security

Today

ControlUp has announced the launch of ControlUp for Apps, a component designed to enhance its Digital Employee Experience (DEX) platform, ControlUp ONE.

ControlUp for Apps is crafted to address and manage SaaS and web applications by providing real-time visibility, which aims to meet the unique demands of hybrid and composite employee workspaces. The proliferation of SaaS applications has generated an array of security and management challenges for IT teams.

A recent report, the "2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for SaaS Management Platforms," highlighted the potential risks companies face without central management of SaaS life cycles.

"Through 2027, organisations that fail to centrally manage SaaS life cycles will remain five times more susceptible to a cyber incident or data loss due to incomplete visibility into SaaS usage and configuration," the report stated. It further noted, "Through 2027, organisations that fail to attain centralised visibility and coordinate SaaS life cycles will overspend on SaaS by at least 25% due to unused entitlements and unnecessary, overlapping tools."

Commenting on the new offering, Guy Weintraub, Vice President of Product at ControlUp, remarked, "ControlUp for Apps represents a pivotal advancement in how IT teams manage and optimise the performance of the SaaS and web applications employees increasingly rely on to get work done. Using our deep insights and exclusive issue resolution processes, ControlUp for Apps is uniquely positioned to transform the service desk's approach to application management, without requiring dedicated domain training or expertise, making a significant impact on organisational security and productivity."

ControlUp for Apps is designed to be user-friendly and provides rapid time to value, enabling IT teams to swiftly identify and resolve both specific employee experience issues and wider systemic challenges without needing expert SaaS knowledge. This is significant as enterprises grow increasingly dependent on complex software environments.

The platform offers various features tailored for specific IT functions. For the IT service desk, it enhances efficiency by integrating performance metrics and error data into ControlUp ONE's existing views, which helps quickly detect issues across end user digital workplaces, facilitating rapid problem-solving that minimises downtime for employees.

For IT desktop teams, ControlUp for Apps provides improved visibility into web and SaaS applications, ensuring issues are addressed proactively without specialist training. This can help preempt typical delays and communication breakdowns among technology teams.

IT operations teams benefit from the platform's ability to present health and usage statistics of monitored applications. Its dashboards allow proactive management, ensuring high levels of service continuity that are essential for maintaining workforce productivity.

ControlUp for Apps incorporates technology from Avanite, which joined ControlUp's innovation efforts in 2023, enhancing functionalities such as custom reporting, alerting, and data export automation. The new product complements existing offerings like synthetic monitoring and Secure DX User Risk Analytics.

ControlUp for Apps is now accessible for physical endpoints as an integral part of the ControlUp ONE platform.
