Cornerstone OnDemand acquires SkyHive Technologies for skills boost

Fri, 24th May 2024

Cornerstone OnDemand has announced its acquisition of SkyHive Technologies, a company known for its AI-powered skills intelligence platform and services designed to assist organisations in building skills-based structures. SkyHive's platform provides visibility into employee capabilities, contributing significantly to organisational transformation efforts.

This is Cornerstone’s fourth acquisition, following previous acquisitions of Sum Total, EdCast, and Talespin. With SkyHive’s integration, Cornerstone aims to enhance its reskilling capabilities through predictive labour market intelligence, automated job architecture management, rapid skill proficiency detection, and additional services. These advancements are intended to help organisations develop agile workforces.

SkyHive aligns with Cornerstone's commitment to integrating various skills-focused talent applications, simplifying customer technology stacks and improving time-to-value. By analysing terabytes of the global workforce, labour market, and economic data daily, SkyHive offers real-time, detailed insights into the global labour market. These insights enable organisations to forecast emerging critical skills and predict future needs.

The acquisition complements Cornerstone's existing solutions, such as Cornerstone Talent Intelligence, helping organisations adopt a dynamic skills-oriented approach to bridge the workforce readiness gap. Recent research indicates that less than half of employers are aware of existing skills gaps, underscoring the need for improved skills awareness and actionable strategies in talent development.

Himanshu Palsule, CEO of Cornerstone, emphasised the importance of understanding the skills landscape for training and empowering employees to adapt to changing business needs. “With SkyHive’s AI-powered technology and extensive labour market data, we can accelerate our vision of helping our customers become agile and build skills-based organisations,” Palsule said.

Sean Hinton and Mohan Reddy, Co-Founders of SkyHive, expressed their enthusiasm for the merger, noting the alignment of both companies' founding missions toward educating and reskilling the global workforce. They believe that a skills-centric approach is pivotal for the future and look forward to expanding this approach to a broader audience.

This news follows the recent launch of Cornerstone Galaxy, an AI-powered workforce agility platform. The platform assists organisations in identifying skills gaps and development opportunities, retaining and engaging top talent, and offering multimodal learning experiences to meet the diverse needs of the modern workforce. Cornerstone Galaxy aims to support over 7,000 organisations and 125 million users in 186 countries, driving high performance and future readiness in enterprises and employees alike.
