Crowdbotics launches GitHub Copilot extension for accuracy

Today

Crowdbotics has unveiled a new extension for GitHub Copilot designed to improve the accuracy of code generation by utilising comprehensive requirements and contextual information from its platform.

The extension is now accessible via GitHub and Azure Marketplaces and integrates with GitHub Copilot Chat, allowing developers to generate more precise code without leaving their current development environment.

Anand Kulkarni, Chief Executive Officer at Crowdbotics, commented, "The Crowdbotics extension for GitHub Copilot achieves what both GitHub and Crowdbotics aim to do: improve developers' lives by making their code smarter and more accurate.

"Product requirements are the holy grail when it comes to making coding more efficient, so harnessing the power of this extension is a no-brainer for any developer looking to speed up their workflows without compromising context or accuracy," Kulkarni said.

A collaborative research study conducted by Crowdbotics, GitHub, and Microsoft found that by incorporating business requirements from Crowdbotics' PRD AI into GitHub Copilot's neighbouring tab context model, the code suggestion acceptance rate improved by 14%, representing a 51% relative improvement. The study also highlighted that developers using this enhanced configuration were 25% more likely to accomplish feature development than those who did not utilise AI assistance.

According to Crowdbotics, the extension provides several benefits, such as breaking down features into layers including the front end, back end, business logic, data schema, or third-party integrations. It also offers technical recommendations for app-specific integrations and maintains seamless connections between developers and PRDs, eliminating workflow disruptions, the company said.

Interested parties can access the Crowdbotics extension with a complimentary 30-day trial available on the GitHub Marketplace. Further insights into its capabilities can be explored with Cory Hymel, Vice President of Research and Innovation at Crowdbotics, who will discuss the findings of the Crowdbotics' GUMDROP study. T

he study demonstrated how augmenting model context through Crowdbotics led to improved GitHub Copilot code suggestions for participants.

"Crowdbotics significantly streamlines enterprise app development by strategically integrating AI throughout the entire software lifecycle," the company says.

"This approach reduces development time and minimizes the risk of project failure.

"Crowdbotics employs AI at the beginning of a project to improve requirements gathering. It uses AI to help build the application, from architecture and data modeling to code generation, and it supports customers all the way through to deploying and running their apps," it said.

"Taking a more expansive approach to employing artificial intelligence, Crowdbotics is supercharging software development."
