D2L launches Creator+ with H5P for educators' toolkit

Thu, 24th Oct 2024

D2L has introduced the all-new Creator+ integrated with H5P, offering enhanced capabilities for educators and trainers.

The recent integration follows D2L's acquisition of H5P Group in July 2024. This new version of Creator+ is aimed at providing educators with tools to create personalised learning experiences utilising interactive content, video tools, advanced analytics, and generative AI. The integration is also part of D2L's commitment to support the H5P open-source community.

Stephen Laster, President of D2L, stated, "We've heard our customers loud and clear — educators and course creators want the freedom to create content without the need for coding skills, while administrators need a cost-effective, scalable solution that enriches learning. That's why we designed Creator+, now enhanced with the power of H5P." He added, "Our new Creator+ package empowers content authors to create, share, and repurpose rich course materials that drive improved learning outcomes. We're excited to introduce these updates and continue our mission to transform the way the world learns."

The enhanced Creator+ package includes more than 50 interactive content types, allowing for flexible course creation. This includes tools such as polling, video streaming, and lecture recording, designed to streamline course authoring.

In addition to the interactive content options, Creator+ offers features aimed at boosting author productivity and teaching excellence. These tools enable users to quickly convert documents into interactive content using generative AI, and engage learners through live discussions with features like Emoji Cloud, Word Cloud, and Multipoll.

Furthermore, D2L's new solution enables educators to track real-time learner data and outcomes, assisting in the delivery of high-quality courses. These insights allow educators to make informed decisions to enhance learner outcomes.

The University of Hawai'i System is one of the early adopters of the new Creator+. The system has implemented Creator+ to improve the educational experience across its ten campuses. After attending Fusion 2024, D2L's user conference, the university's team found that Creator+, along with H5P and D2L Lumi, fit well with their strategic goals of fostering innovation and providing a world-class educational environment.
