FYI, this story is more than a year old

Dell has announced a new 40GB Ethernet-enabled blade server switch for its PowerEdge M1000e blade system, in an expansion of its Virtual Network Architecture portfolio.

Due to be demonstrated at the Interop conference in Las Vegas early next month, the Force10 MXL 10/40GbE switch expands users’ architecture options to allow for heavy workloads and high performance needs.

Dell says the new infrastructure ‘can deliver up to 10 times greater application performance’ for BI workloads.

The switch is based on technology acquired when Dell purchased Force10 in July last year.

The company also announced a new offering for managing Dell Distributed Core deployments in data centers, Dell Fabric Manager, as well as the fifth version of its network management console, OpenManage Network Manager.

The Dell Force10 MXL 10/40GbE switch will be available in coming months.
