Designing equal opportunity in AI and adtech leadership

Tue, 3rd Mar 2026

In an industry still largely driven by male leadership, "Balancing the Scales" means building systems that provide genuine equal opportunity. It is about creating a culture where women feel empowered to speak up, contribute meaningfully, and to pursue leadership without hesitation or self-doubt.

True justice comes from dismantling bias in AI and emerging tech

Equity in innovation means designing systems with fairness, and ensuring AI reflects the diversity and values of the society it serves, where "all are equal before the law".

Action is turning that belief into reality. I am an advocate for female leaders and for mentoring the next generation of young women and girls into leadership in tech. Taking action ensures the next generation of women and girls in STEM can thrive without the barriers that still exist today, to look at a career in tech without scrutiny or judgement.

I want to look into the future career progression and know I have the rights to equal access, so that women like me can contribute meaningfully without having to justify our presence at every step.

Fostering a culture of inclusion

International Women's Day is important to celebrate no matter what industry we are in, it fosters a culture of inclusion, empowering women to speak up and advocate for themselves

It becomes most poignant in the tech and ad-tech industry, as we are helping to shape the future world we live in. To programmatic media easing the process to selling and buying digital ad spaces, to tools like Meta AI, Galaxy AI ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Apple Intelligence, Claude (and so on and so forth) helping us write better emails and drive better outcomes, advocating for women's voice amongst the madness is more important than ever. Celebrating International Women's Day shines a light to women in tech, inspiring the next generation whilst reinforcing the importance of building ethical and inclusive technology. Recognising women's contributions strengthens the industry's ability to retain talent and reduce attrition among women in tech.

Adtech industry's opportunities and challenges

The ad-tech industry is fast-moving, with startups and new emerging tech rapidly creating new opportunities for innovation. We should be inspiring young women to pursue careers in this dynamic industry, counteracting stereotypes that tech is male-dominated. International Women's Day helps to promote women for equal access to entrepreneurship, funding and leadership in this ever-changing landscape.

As awareness of diversity grows, there is still an underrepresentation in leadership roles, driven by unconscious bias in hiring and promotions. Rather than recognising a growing generation of highly capable women who are shaping the future of tech and innovation, women are still marginalised and believed to be "filling a quota" across the industry. We should be challenging these ideas – letting skills and impact speak for themselves.

Our responsibility to correct bias in the age of AI

For an industry that is defining the future through AI and emerging technologies, we have the responsibility to actively recognise and correct those biases, not reinforcing it. Bias can be amplified through the data used to train machine learning models, embedding pre-conceived inequalities into automated decision-making. For a world relying on these AI tools, we need to do our part to take intentional action across data selection, model development for real, tangible change.

The industry needs transparent career pathways, and inclusive practices into product development. Embracing a culture for women to lead, innovate and take risks. I will know change is made when women like me see a future in tech where progression is based on merit, and leadership, entrepreneurship and decision-making roles are accessible to those deserving of it. Merit, skill and impact determine success, not gender.
