Dimension Data unveils private network connection services for its global cloud
Mon, 24th Mar 2014
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Dimension Data has today announced the availability of Cloud Private Network Connection (CPNC) as an add-on service for its enterprise-class Public, Private and Managed Hosting cloud offerings.

CPNC services allow clients to establish a network connection between their own network and Dimension Data's Managed Cloud Platform (MCP) locations, designed to provide better performance, greater control and security over their data in the cloud.

CPNC services are well-suited to healthcare, retail, finance and government industries that require a private connection to Dimension Data's MCP to avoid the public Internet and achieve greater throughput and network experience.

Dimension Data offers two options for clients wanting a global, high-performance and secure method to access their Dimension Data cloud and managed hosting environments without traversing the public Internet:

· Direct Connect – access to a dedicated, physical port at the MCP location at a speed of 1Gbps

· Private Connect – access to a virtual port via a partner MPLS provider at flexible speed options

“CPNC replicates the security, connectivity and responsiveness that enterprises are accustomed to from their own wide area and local area networks," says Manish Pratap, General Manager, Dimension Data's Cloud Business Unit APAC."Organisations around the world require this type of dedicated connection to cloud services where performance is critical to achieve cost savings; improve throughput and consistency in regions where bandwidth is expensive or unreliable; ensure quality of service; and provide greater security.

In addition to offering clients greater control over their WAN infrastructure when accessing their Public Cloud, Private Cloud or Managed Hosting services, CPNC also allows enterprises to offer a carrier-class, high-speed network experience to their user base, eliminating the worry of unpredictable Internet connections.

With Dimension Data's CPNC service supporting multiple access methods including fibre, Ethernet and MPLS, enterprises have the flexibility of choosing the service that best suits their requirements and geographies.

For organisations with service continuity as a key priority, they will also have the option of creating a redundant connection on two separate ports for even greater redundancy.

Availability

Available now, clients can order Direct Connect and Private Connect CPNC services to access Dimension Data's MCP locations in Santa Clara, CA; US; Ashburn, VA, USA; Amsterdam, The Netherlands; London, UK; Sydney, Australia; Melbourne, Australia; Tokyo, Japan; Hong Kong; and Johannesburg, South Africa.
