DoorDash expands global reach, partners with Oracle NetSuite

Tue, 10th Sep 2024

DoorDash, the food delivery and local commerce platform, has expanded its operations to serve over 37 million active consumers each month across more than 30 countries, utilising Oracle NetSuite's integrated business system.

This partnership has been crucial in aiding DoorDash's mission to support local economies by connecting consumers with over 500,000 local businesses and enabling more than two million Dashers to earn through the platform monthly, the company states.

Since its founding in 2013, DoorDash has consistently aimed to innovate and support businesses in reaching a wider customer base. To facilitate its rapid expansion and establish a solid foundation for future growth, DoorDash adopted NetSuite as its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in 2015.

This decision proved pivotal in automating business processes, improving the speed and accuracy of reporting, and scaling operations seamlessly. These enhancements were crucial as DoorDash expanded its services to include new subscription models and executed a successful Initial Public Offering (IPO) in 2020, emerging as the leading food delivery service in the United States.

Additionally, DoorDash has diversified its offerings to encompass grocery, convenience, and retail delivery, sectors that have seen significant growth.

Gordon Lee, chief accounting officer at DoorDash, remarked on the partnership with NetSuite, "With NetSuite's scalable and flexible platform, we have grown from a startup to a publicly traded company, integrated numerous acquisitions, delivered new services and subscriptions, and expanded our offerings to tens-of-millions of customers around the world. NetSuite has been a valuable partner as we've evolved our business for each stage of growth."

The utilisation of NetSuite has enabled DoorDash to adapt its core business processes effectively to accommodate its rapid growth. During the IPO, NetSuite helped optimise DoorDash's financial processes, improving financial planning, budgeting, and reconciliation, thus enhancing the accuracy of bookkeeping. NetSuite's learning and support services further enabled DoorDash to maximise its investment in the platform, providing the technical support needed to address the challenges associated with growth.

Evan Goldberg, founder and executive vice president of Oracle NetSuite, expressed pride in the collaboration with DoorDash. "We're incredibly proud of supporting DoorDash's journey to become the number one food delivery operator in the United States," said Goldberg. "We look forward to continuing our partnership with the DoorDash team as they unlock even more success, and we'll work to ensure their core business processes evolve with changing customer demands so they can grow efficiently."

DoorDash continues to pursue its goal of empowering local economies and facilitating seamless connections between consumers and local businesses worldwide, leveraging the support and technology provided by Oracle NetSuite. The partnership remains integral to DoorDash's strategy, allowing it to efficiently navigate and sustain its expansive growth trajectory.
